SEED 562: Assessment & Evaluation of Exceptional Learners (3 units)
Description
Introduces the types and uses of assessments to identify the strengths and needs of exceptional learners and evaluate results to develop meaningful educational practices. Provides knowledge and skills necessary for selecting, administering, interpreting and reporting results of tests related to cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and social development. Emphasis given to translating assessment data to make informed educational decisions. Field-based experience required.
Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have:
- Gained an overview of the assessment process
- Developed an understanding of assessment issues
- Understood the types, scores, and reporting process in standardized assessments
- Selected, scored, and reported informal assessment results
- Developed basic skills and content-subject assessments
Course Format
Conducted online over 16 weeks in alignment with Biola University’s 2012 Fall semester. Students will interact with the instructor and each other through interactive online discussions and other assignments.
